The Case of The Changing Sectors

A care home group who focused on Older People and dementia had one home in their portfolio that provided care and rehabilitation for people with a complex mental health condition.

They wanted to understand the viability of changing another of their homes into this care sector and also whether to purchase another vacant home for the new sector.

In addition to the large amount of market data that CSI holds, we searched for other market statistics and were able to respond comprehensively to their brief and allow them to make their decision on the way forward.

The Case of The Returning Care Provider

A once successful care provider who had sold his business decided he wanted to return to the market.

Having secured investment he has turned to CSI every time a location has become available for sale, and we have used our MIDAS business model to measure local market conditions – the supply levels and demographics of the area to provide an answer as to whether the location would prove to have potential, or whether the local market was likely to prove difficult to successfully operate.

The new group is now on double figures and performing very well, but CSI was able to steer them clear of some opportunities.

MIDAS has proved a valuable tool for many care providers looking to consider new locations.

The Case Of The Provider with Growing Pains

A small Learning Disability residential care and supported living provider was wishing to expand faster than the current organic growth it was currently achieving.

Unfortunately there were no real on-market opportunities and so they needed to look off-market.

CSI was able to provide them with in-depth information of all businesses that were located in the geographical area in which they sought to expand.

This was not simply a list of names and addresses; we provided full recent trading history and the names and tenure of the current owners. This allowed the client to be selective in the businesses they would contact from what was a roster of well over one hundred candidates, and the people they needed to contact.

The Case of The New Supplier

This client wanted to know the companies from across all social sectors where their employee numbers met their requirements, and exactly who to contact with a position that also met their requirements from their work with other industries.

Again, CSI provided the data they needed for required for hundreds of companies, confident that all of them exactly fitted the client brief.

CSI gets contacted by many suppliers wanting to get in front of the correct people within the social care sector and has been commissioned in a number of different markets.

The Case of The Complex Nursing Care Provider

This client delivers specialist nursing care to younger adults with physical and neurological disabilities providing either the end-of-life care, rehabilitation, or management of symptoms.

Whilst the objective of social care is to provide support on a local basis, this is not the case with many specialist care sectors where patients are referred and commissioned from areas around the country.

The client asked CSI to measure both supply levels and the number of people likely to require such care.

The report looked at England on a regional basis, focusing on the client’s home region, and also identified local authorities and (the then) CCGs that did not have any specialist locations, and as the client fed back to us “was exactly what we needed, and more”.
